OSCARS: A BEAUTY EDITION

Awards season are over but the dust has not yet settled. With the last of the Oscars being handed out, we thank the God of Beauty Venus for creating such tremendously talented and eye-catchingly gorgeous human beings to have walked this earth. The class of 2018 has truly been delectable for our sensories.

We take a look at some of the most memorable films that have stunned and left us inspired, plus the beauty treatments you can get to look a little more like the heroines and heroes in these films.

ESC: Black Panther Beauty

BLACK PANTHER

was not only a phenomenal movie last year, but made cultural history for African Americans that had sought for so long to be represented significantly in Hollywood instead of the usual stereotype. It had combined centuries of African roots and the alternate universe of Wakanda to become a visual spectacle that stunned audience worldwide in both the movie sets (shot in South Africa, Zambia) and the actors’ beauty (with the very gorgeous Micheal B. Jordan of course)

The beauty on set was kept true and inspired by African tribal beauty (think intricate body paint and flawless skin due to being make-up free for your whole life).

DEEP RED BODY is a 5-step treatment for rejuvenating your body’s dermis and helps to promote skin healing, especially if your skin is sun damaged and ageing. LED photobiomodulation Red Light Therapy is used to boost those sluggish skin cells, programming a quicker metabolism long term to result in firmer and plumper skin that will more effectively help fight free radicals.

A STAR IS BORN

Lady Gaga has certainly come a long way since her first album in 2009. From the days of accepting her 2010 MTV’s video of the year award in a meat dress to her bizarre bird’s nest mask, this pop star has quickly solidified her status as a legend, taking home the Oscar for best original song this year.

Seen here as she bared her soul and face in A Star is Born, Gaga has clearly gained confidence in her own natural beauty and served as empowerment to women all over the world.

Most of us want to achieve a flawless look without looking like we had spent a ton of effort on makeup, but not all of us can get away with just splashing water on our face. Maybe at the end of the day, we just need a smart primer that does all the work for us.

THE FAVOURITE

was one film that umm, was everyone’s favourite. It was all about the ladies (Olivia Coleman – winner of the Oscars for Best Actress, Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz) and their costumes, black and white wardrobe and hair and (barely) makeup. “Hairspray was banned on set,” says hair and makeup designer Nadia Stacey . She was also instructed to keep the leads mostly makeup-free, helping the trio highlight their storytelling chops instead.

Like the namesake, the Audrey Hepburn Hydrafacial is one that will bring even the most lacklustre skin alive and transform you into a fair lady again. Patented MD technology is used to obliterate dead skin while infusing epicurean enzymatic peels bursting with vitamin C and antioxidants.

We thank you Gemma Chan, Fiona Xie, Lady Gaga, Emma Stone, Emily Blunt, Michelle Yeoh, Constance Wu, Regina King, Lupita Nyong’o, Glenn Close, Margot Robbie and so many more for showing us true beauty is achievable inside and out as we strive to look like you.
