My Top 5 Beauty Hacks

Beauty certainly isn’t something that can be achieved overnight, but today, I’ve put together a list of my go-to beauty hacks to help you along the way! Read under the cut to find out more!

BEST HAIR COLOR: Josh Wood Ateliers (London)

Touted as an “anti-salon”, this is where you should go if you’re looking for a little extra. Its creator – the eponymous Josh Wood – is a colorist to the ultra rich and famous. Some notable clients include Sam Taylor-Wood, Elle MacPherson, and even Kylie Minogue! From the very moment you step inside, rest assured you’re in good hands.

But what sets Josh Wood Ateliers from the rest? Well, his ‘halo-ing’ technique is basically legendary. It was first used in the 1940′s but Wood has improved the process with his own techniques. It involves creating a ring of highlights around the hair line, just like a halo, to replicate the bright, summery look you get when you’re in the sun.

BEST MODEL WORKOUT: Gotham Gym (New York)

Wrap up your knuckles and prepare for a workout at this West Village gym. Gotham Gym offers classes in boxing, Muay Thai, and barre fitness. While individual training is their main focus, Gotham has group sessions as well.

Supermodel Gigi Hadid is a big fan of the boxing hotspot, referring to the owner as “the guy who makes up for my love of burgers and pasta.”

Other Victoria’s Secret models frequent the establishment too. After all, their catwalk-ready bodies certainly weren’t achieved overnight. When a bunch of them are spotted at the same gym, you know it’s worth checking out. But how exactly did it get so popular?

Rob Piela, the owner, never does the same workout twice with someone. He trains ten people a day with ten different workouts, and that keeps things fresh and interesting. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more personalized regime.

BEST BROWS: Browhaus (Singapore)

Talk about making a splash! Browhaus, a Singaporean brand, has outlets in both New York City and London. What’s so special about it? This brow salon uses premium vegetable dyes (100% safe for skin); and is best-known for its revolutionary Brow Resurrection treatment.

Whether you like it or not, brows make a difference. So if your brows are short, sparse, or basically non-existent, a trip to Browhaus might be just what you need. They also offer a Color Tweak service, adjusting the colour of your brows to really make your features pop.

A post-treatment aftercare package helps ensure your brows remain picture-perfect!

BEST NAILS: Cowshed (London)

Just a stone’’s throw from Soho, the Cowshed Spa is perfect for those with little time to spare. They actually offer a full menu of half-hour treatments, everything from massages and reflexology to facials and scrubs. Each of their treatments are designed to incorporate the best essential oils to suit your mood.

If you’re really pressed for time, there’s also the Cowgroom Maintenance, where two therapists work together for a thorough pampering and relaxation. All treatments begin with the feet and exfoliation. This is followed by a pressure point massage and a de-stressing shoulder massage.

Cowshed is quite popular, so make sure to make your booking well in advance if you’re looking for a relaxing Saturday afternoon.

BEST GLOW: The Sloane Clinic (Singapore)

Touted as one of Singapore’s leading aesthetic clinics, The Sloane Clinic has a strong, diverse team of top names in medicine spearheading their aesthetic dermatology, cosmetic surgery, and hair transplant team. The key difference is that you get unrivalled attention from a panel of their best medical experts, rather than one single doctor in a usual one-man show clinic of yore.

Lead by Dr Low Chai Ling, one of Singapore’s top aesthetic doctors, said to be on the speed dial of discerning socialites, celebrities, and CEOs, together with her team of leading aesthetic doctors and plastic surgeons, you can literally get an expert in every field to cater to your every need.

Need one of the best robotic hair transplant doctors? Look for Dr Chua Han Boon. Want one of the most natural-looking thread-lifts in town? Dr Kenneth Lee is your man. Want an aesthetic doctor who specializes in eye for your dark circle woes? Then ask for Dr Michelle Lim who specializes in both aesthetics and eye!

I had my heart set on a dozen or so treatments (Dream Sculpture, fillers, Silhouette Soft Threadlift, Ultherapy) but in the end settled on their LED Red therapy, much raved about by my office colleagues!

First off, this is the real deal. The Sloane Clinic’s LED Red is a breakthrough for skin renewal, skin healing, and pore reduction. Unlike some of the other treatments I’ve tried, which aren’t actually photomodulaton lights but beautician grade red lights, smoother, brighter skin and reduced pore size are immediately noticeable after each session!

How does it work? The emitted light promotes skin healing, collagen synthesis, and reduces oil. What’s more, treatments are completely pain-free with no downtime!

This treatment is best done with their signature Deep Red facial. It’s The Sloane Clinic’s most coveted facial, giving your skin a new lease of life with their trademark cell enhancement process.

It starts off with a microdermabrasion scrub, getting rid of any dead cells to give your skin a smoother finish. But they don’t stop there. Their LED Red Light therapy boosts cell metabolism and healing. With The Sloane Clinic, you’ll be on your way to a gorgeous, healthy glow in no time.
