The Truth About Weight Loss

I want a body like Suzy or Hyuna! But losing weight is tough and keeping it off is even harder! Experts say that an estimated 80 percent of people dropped the pounds but gained it all back within a year (that’s me!) How then do we rise above the rest and be that 20 percent that gets to fit into skin-tight dresses and strut our stuff confidently? A good start would be to recognise the difficulty of weight loss and quit beating ourselves up over it. Next, practice the truths to keep those fats away and perhaps one day, just one day, we’ll get there.

#1 Truth: Exercise, Alone, Is Not The Answer

HIIT (High-intensity interval training), LISS (low-intensity, steady-state), crossfits workouts, I’m sure you’ve heard of or even practiced these exercise regimes. Exercise primarily increases appetites according to science so how can they effectively bring down the numbers on the scale in the long run? Studies have shown that exercise itself is not enough to keep weight off and instead, it is more efficient to cut calories by watching what you eat. Something to keep in mind!

#2 Truth: Seek Help

Many believe that we can lose weight ourselves. I certainly thought I could! While that’s possible for the rest of you, wouldn’t you say it’s not easy to maintain the loss? That’s where gym coaches and medical professionals can help.

According to Dr Low Chai Ling, medical director of The Sloane Clinic, a possible reason as to why we put on weight may have more to do with our diet the older we get. She adds, “There’re many ways we can go about helping you in your weight loss journey like prescribing medicine to control appetites or supplements to ensure a healthy and successful weight loss process.”

To interested readers, she recommends giving our bodies a daily dose of detox with Pure Cleanse or Detox Tea available in Lemon or Peach flavours. Rich in wonderful ingredients and bursting with flavours, they’re delicious and easily replace the hassle of having to prepare fruit juices, you know, the old way. This is a no brainer to detox-ing.

Dr Low also pointed out that the presence of stubborn fat may be what’s preventing weight loss. Hence, a Coolsculpting PLUS treatment may be the boost your body needs. This is one of the latest and most advanced, non-invasive body shaping treatment that effectively reduces fat in areas of the body. For the braver souls, you might want to consider Vaser Liposuction, a more effective and quick alternative. It’s a thorough removal of fat cells through small incisions to give a sexy contour.

After the lost kilos, we have ourselves another problem: flabby skin. Tighten that skin with Thermage Body. A special radiofrequency technology to cause deep volumetric heating of the dermis and subcutaneous tissue, it tightens the existing collagen and stimulate the skin’s natural renewal of new collagen. Curves! Checked! You’d be so glad you got the right tips and advices from the experts.

#3 Truth: No Quick Fixes

After all that effort, we can’t stop there. Don’t expect your body to change overnight and remain as toned or slim. That’s impossible. What have to go are our bad dietary and lifestyle choices. Persistence in exercising is key and so is adopting the right mindset to maintain fit and healthy. That perfect body requires some sacrifice and the UPKEEP IS FOREVER. That’s right. For days, months and years. Sounds too much? We all start somewhere so why not START TODAY and make that conscious decision to continue exercising and eat cleaner by cutting down on sugar and carbs. Pile on the vege and fruits and thrash the ice cream and donuts! A way to resist temptations to snack late at night or have supper is to sleep early! And if you find yourself gaining back the weight or at a plateau, repeat steps 1 to 3.
