Detox Tea: Does It Really Work?

You’ve probably seem pictures of celebrities promoting detox teas – and chances are, the before and after results often look dramatic – but do they really work?

Yes, you still have to exercise and diet

Let’s face it – just drinking tea is not going to help you lose weight by itself. The tea should be consumed along with plenty of water, healthy, balanced meals, and three to five workouts a week.

You might lose water weight, not actual fat

– Caffeine

Detox tea sometimes contain caffeine with diuretics which can trigger the loss of water weight. Two cups of water = 1 pound, so peeing can make you look and feel lighter, even if you haven’t lost an ounce of fat.

– Laxative effect

This can cause your body to eliminate waste, which results in making your stomach flatter and make you feel lighter.

A tea detox or teatox works by restricting calories so that you consume fewer calories than you burn in a day. However, the most crucial part about a teatox, isn’t even what goes into your tea, but it’s in what else you eat. In order to truly detoxify your body, reduce your intake on fried foods, and increase your intake on fruits and vegetables. Once your diet is clean and gentle on your body, detoxifying teas can begin to enhance your natural organ function.
