When was the last time you changed your pillowcase?
If the last time you washed your pillowcase was last month, it’s time you got down to changing it. Even when you sleep, your skin secretes sebum which leads to bacteria growth. It’s no surprise that they all rub off your pillowcase every night when you sleep and lead to an unpleasant surprise in the AM.
Try to wash your pillowcase once every few days. However, if it is too much of a hassle, place a soft clean towel or sheet over your pillowcase every night.
2. Your work out
Working out is supposed to make your skin radiant and give off that post-workout glow. However, if you do not cleanse your face properly afterwards, it may do your skin more harm than good instead. Here are some tips for that after gym glow.
Wash your face to remove any buildup of bacteria in the pores. This light foaming cleanser lifts away dirt, make up, and other impurities without striping the essential lipids the skin needs to stay healthy and hydrated.
3. Your bedtime routine
Makeup which contain ingredients such as oils may be clogging up your pores if you do not cleanse it at the end of the day. Your beauty blenders should be cleaned every day while make-up brushes should be wiped with a make-up remover wipe after every use and deep cleaned every week. I like washing my beauty blender and make up brush with gentle baby soap.
If your skin is acne prone, try to skip foundation on that areas of your face for a few days so that it will not trigger more acne. In addition, if you go to bed with essential oils in your hair, make sure that you wrap it up in a silk towel, as it can get into your pillowcase and rub into your face.
4. Your handphone
Your handphone is with you all day errday, so it’s no surprise that it may pick up a lot of dirt and bacteria along the way. It’s even worse when you don’t wipe your phone screen before answering a call.
Did you know that the average mobile phone is 18 times dirtier than a public toilet? And you’re putting it on your face? Gross! Make sure you at least have anti-bacterial wet wipes with you so that you are able to wipe the screen in before answering that call.
5. Your morning latte
Having your steaming cup of coffee every morning sure feels good but it may not have a positive effect on your skin. The reason that milk products cause acne is because milk contains hormones that “turn on” oil glands and may send it into overdrive.
If you absolutely must have coffee, try experimenting with Soy, Rice, Almond, or Coconut milk instead. Your skin will thank you.
